SDAIA strikes MoU with FIWARE to localize technology

The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the FIWARE Foundation in order to localize the technology and adapt it to the local language, culture, regulations, infrastructure, and skills. According to the statement, “Further, it intends to support Arabic interfaces, compatible features, local cloud hosting, and training information-technology (IT) specialists, as well as adapting seamless integration with existing systems.” The memorandum of understanding was signed on the sidelines of the SDAIA-organized Global Smart City Forum, which was held on February 12 and 13 under the theme “A Better Life” at the Riyadh Arena, with the participation of more than 100 speakers from over 40 countries. The Global Smart City Forum covers various topics, including global cities, the future of urban mobility, smart public services, planning for the construction of environmentally friendly cities in the next century, data-driven smart cities, and enhanced innovation. Furthermore, it hosts more than 18,000 visitors both in-person and virtually, establishing a global platform for smart cities that brings together experts from around the world who specialize in the construction of smart cities and AI technologies. The MoU also includes cooperation with 39 FIWARE Innovation Hubs (IHubs), a global network of innovation centers that helps local and regional companies, institutions, partners, and customers develop smart solutions by providing access to open-source technologies and business support. According to the statement, the MoU aims to develop and build the community by providing professional training, resources, and expertise to excel in digital transformation.
