The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) organized Monday a ceremony to celebrate manufacturing 10 air-conditioned metro trains –consisting of a total of 80 railcars - at SEMAF Factory in collaboration with Hyundai Rotem.   The two parties had signed a $656-million deal to locally manufacture and supply 32 air-conditioned metro trains for Greater Cairo's Line 3, in addition to assembling ten others.   The Korean government represented by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund is providing $460 million of the project's cost. In August 2023, the factory handed over the first train to the National Authority for Tunnels.
