Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, FM Hossein Amir Abdollahian confirmed dead in helicopter crash, state TV

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian have died in a helicopter crash in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan, Iranian Press TV confirmed, Monday. The Iranian President's plane was completely burned in the crash and no sign of life was found in the helicopter wreckage, al Qahera news channel reported Head of the Iranian Red Crescent confirmed that the bodies of all those on board with the late President Raisi are being transported to the city of Tabriz. On Sunday, Egypt expressed its deep concern over reports of the accident involving the plane carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation. "We extend our solidarity to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran during this challenging time, and our thoughts are with the safety and well-being of President Raisi and his companions," said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on his X account. A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was involved in an accident in East Azerbaijan Province, as part of a convoy of three helicopters, Iranian media reported.
