A high-ranking source denied on Tuesday what is being circulated in the Israeli media regarding any joint coordination with Israel regarding its military operation in the Palestinian Rafah.
The source stated that Egypt warned Israel of the repercussions of the escalation in the Gaza Strip and rejected any coordination with it regarding the Rafah crossing.
The source also confirmed that the Egyptian position towards the Israeli aggression has been consistent from the first moment, and puts Egyptian national security and the rights of the Palestinian people at the top of its priorities.
The high-level source stressed that the Israeli media intends to publish incorrect news to divert attention from the state of confusion that Israel is suffering from internally.
The source confirmed that Egypt’s respect for its international obligations and treaties does not prevent it from using ‘all available scenarios’ to preserve its national security and preserve the historical rights of the Palestinian people.
World Health Organization spokesperson said, on May 17 that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, cannot be allowed to continue.
He added that the health systems, infrastructure, and service facilities in the Gaza Strip must be supported, stressing the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, after the major crisis that Gaza witnessed over the past months, causing civilian suffering and the spread of many diseases.
“The current conditions in Gaza place great challenges on the shoulders of doctors, and we are in dire need of support for the health sector and relief workers. The quantities of fuel entering Gaza are not sufficient to operate the Strip’s hospitals, and some Gaza hospitals have been completely closed,” WHO spokesperson said.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Friday that the number of deaths among Palestinians due to Israeli aggression has risen to 35,303, and the number of injured reached 79,261 since the 70th of October 2023.
