Founded in 2007 under Law 8/1997, ERC has become a cornerstone in the Egyptian petroleum industry. With a strategic upgrade to the Cairo Oil Refinery Company (CORC) in Mostorod, ERC addresses the rising demand for high-end petroleum products, significantly reducing Egypt’s dependency on imports. ERC’s focus on producing cleaner-burning fuels underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Milestones in Our Journey
- 2006: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Qalaa Holdings and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
- 2007: ERC was incorporated to upgrade CORC, with an EPC contract awarded to GS Engineering & Construction of South Korea and Mitsui & Co. of Japan.
- 2012: Financial closure and site handover to the contractor.
- 2014-2018: Completion of construction and full operational integration of the refinery.
- 2020: Achievement of contract guarantees, marking a significant milestone in ERC’s operational excellence.
