Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah affirmed their categorical rejection to attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue and Israel’s continuation of its military operations, including the possibility of their extension to the Palestinian city of Rafah.
In a joint statement issued by Egypt and Kuwait on Tuesday on the occasion of the Kuwaiti emir’s visit to Egypt, they warned of the dire humanitarian consequences that would result from such a step.
They cautioned as well that the dangerous Israeli practices would create a significant regional spillover and threaten the security and stability of the region and international peace and security.
Bilateral relations
According to the statement, Sisi, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, held a bilateral discussion session, followed by an expanded session that included members of the two delegations, which witnessed an in-depth discussion of the bilateral relations between Egypt and Kuwait.
The two sides also discussed various aspects of joint cooperation, where they praised the current progress in all different sectors, and the steady growth witnessed in the economic and trade relations between the two countries, which reflects the common interests that bind them.
The Kuwaiti side praised the unprecedented development renaissance witnessed by Egypt at all levels, noting the ongoing Egyptian efforts to improve the investment environment, and overcome obstacles facing investors.
The two sides valued the mutual support between the two countries in various international forums, which represents an important pillar for advancing common interests, the latest of which was the State of Kuwait’s support for the nomination of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, as well as Egypt’s support for Kuwait’s candidacy for membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period from 2024- 2026.
They also praised the close coordination on regional and international issues of common interest, and stressed the need to give priority to the culture of peace, dialogue, and diplomatic settlement of disputes and differences in the Middle East region.
The region’s conflicts
President Sisi and the Emir of Kuwait, agreed on the necessity of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the necessity of facilitating safe, adequate and sustainable access for humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
They also affirmed their rejection of Israel’s continuation of its military operations, including the possibility of its expansion to the Palestinian city of Rafah, and warned of the dire humanitarian consequences that would result from such a step.

Sisi and Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in settling the Palestinian issue through implementing the two-state solution.
Egypt and Kuwait stressed the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of the State of Libya and the unity and integrity of its territories, rejecting all types of external interference in its affairs, and the importance of supporting Libyan national efforts within the framework of the principle of exclusive Libyan ownership of the political settlement.
They praised the efforts of the Libyan legislative authority in this regard and its approval of electoral laws in the context of fulfilling all the necessary frameworks for holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously as soon as possible.
The two sides stressed the inevitability of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Sudan, and rejected external interventions to support any of the parties militarily. They also stressed that any real political solution must be based on a purely Sudanese vision emanating from the Sudanese themselves without dictates or pressure from any external parties.
Egypt’s water security
Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah affirmed its country’s full support for Egyptian water security as it is an integral part of Arab water security.
He also stressed his country’s complete rejection of any action or measure that affects Egypt’s rights to the waters of the Nile, and solidarity with it in taking whatever measures it sees to protect its security and water interests.
The two sides stressed the importance of the security and stability of navigation in the waterways of the region in accordance with the provisions of international law and international conventions, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, in order to ensure the freedom and smoothness of navigation and provide security and stability therein.
