Egypt has strongly condemned a failed coup attempt in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

“Egypt stands by the legitimate authority in the DRC and affirms its support to the government’s efforts to attain security and stability,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Egypt calls on all parties to respect democratic and constitutional rules, and to preserve state institutions and their unity,” added the statement.
