About Dr. Mohamed Hamza El-Husseiny
Mohamed Hamza El-Husseiny (born February 4, 1982) is a distinguished Egyptian economist and international consultant specializing in economics, investment, and digital transformation.
He currently serves as the General Advisor of the Egyptian United Nations Association and is recognized as one of the leading Arab experts in economic development, digital economy, and foreign investment promotion across the Middle East and the Gulf region.
Early Life and Education
Dr. El-Husseiny was born in the Arab Republic of Egypt to an academic family. His mother, Mrs. Nadia Mostafa, worked in the Information Department of the General Telecommunications Authority, while his father, Dr. Hamza El-Husseiny, served as Head of the General Surgery Department at a public hospital before becoming a consultant in general surgery. His uncle, Engineer Sayed El-Husseiny, was a professor of mechanical engineering and a former director at the French company Degrémont. He is married and has children.
Dr. El-Husseiny obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Business Administration from Mansoura University in Egypt. He later earned both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom, with a research focus on digital transformation and its impact on sustainable economic development.
Professional Career & Expertise
Landmark Initiatives in Egypt
Since 2014, Dr. Mohamed Hamza El-Husseiny has served as the General Advisor of the Egyptian United Nations Association, contributing to the design and implementation of international and regional development programs.
He prepared numerous economic studies and reports supporting the Egyptian economy regionally and globally, and launched the country’s first Egypt Business Directory. This comprehensive reference opened new pathways for direct investment in Egypt and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In 2015, he was appointed by the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry as a Board Member of the Giza Chamber of Commerce and Head of the Information Center. In this role, he led the establishment of Egypt’s first commercial and economic data bank for the private sector and initiated the Egypt Investment Map Project in coordination with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Pioneering Economic Development in the GCC
Over more than two decades, Dr. El-Husseiny has worked across the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman, holding senior positions in economic and developmental institutions. He played a key role in launching over 61 economic and investment projects that strengthened both the public and private sectors.
His notable achievements in the GCC include:
- Launching Gulf digital economic platforms that significantly boosted foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and strengthened intra-Gulf and international trade flows.
- Establishing the first comprehensive economic data system in the UAE (2010) and publishing the first National Economic Data Report, which accurately measured market size and eliminated inactive companies.
- Leading the Economic Data Center at the UAE Ministry of Industry and overseeing more than seven strategic economic projects.
- Launching the UAE Industry Portal and the UAE Projects Platform.
- Developing a data system for expatriate labor in GCC countries in cooperation with the respective ministries of labor and social affairs, aimed at documenting labor rights digitally.
- Initiating 26 corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and initiatives that strengthened cooperation between public and private institutions in the region.
Al-Husseiny Investment Group
In April 2012, Dr. Mohamed Hamza El-Husseiny founded Al-Husseiny Investment Group, initially as a small economic research entity. Under his leadership, the firm evolved into a global holding company with ten international branches, including offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as representative offices in Asia and Europe.
