Egyptian president instructs government to move forward with land reclamation projects

President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi held a meeting Wednesday to follow up on securing the inputs needed to operate utilities and provide services, particularly to the agricultural sector, within a plan to increase the supply of food products, offering them in reasonable prices in the local market and also exporting.

 

The focus was on introducing electricity and irrigation networks in the new agricultural lands in New Delta, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Menya, Aswan’s Sanabel Sono, and Dakhla southern the country.

 

The president instructed building on the success of the abovementioned land reclamation projects by adopting the most modern agricultural technology, and expanding the surface area of agricultural lands. That is while having as goal maintaining Egypt’s food security in the face of international crises as well as contributing to the growth of GDP.

 

The meeting included Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Sweilam, Consultant to the President for Urban Planning Amir Sayed, Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed al-Azazy, and, CEO of Egypt’s Future Agency for Sustainable Development Bahaa Ghanam.
